I'm putting an HEI engine where a points engine once was. I think I heard about a resistor somewhere that need to be bypassed or something like that. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Anything else I need to do with this conversion?

Check your voltage at your coil side. If it's 12V or more, just plug 'er in. Otherwise you have to hunt down the resistor. You'll see around 6v if you have the resistor.

The last one I converted was a 68 el Camino, sorry no info on Blazer.

Do NOT use the factory "HOT" or "+" wire at all.
Just run a new wire from a 12V off your fuse box, be sure it is one that only comes on with the key. Some years even have an extra spot on the fuse box that says "Ignition", use that one.

When I was going from Points to MSD I too had to eleminate the resistor. On mine it was a ceramic stick about 2 inches long located on the fire wall in the engine bay. The MSD conversion was very simple and made night and day difference. Good luck

Don't forget to put the different sparkplugs with HEI.
