I'm giving a persuasive speech for school, and this is the topic i think i've narrowed it down to.

I'm using a poll as an outisde source of my own info..
Anyone have any opinions or stories about getting hit by someone talking on their cell phone?

I wrote a persuasive paper on it for a composition class last year. I found some pretty impressive stats on driver error because of cell phones. Wish I had saved it.

    unacceptable

although it is probably in the best intrest of your study to leave the nekkid option out, im sure it would sway votes.

..." Under pressure to do something about car accidents involving cell phones, the industry-backed Cell Phone Safety Council today launched a public service campaign urging users to "scream like hell" before impact, thereby alerting callers on the other end that there is some kind of trouble.

As part of a public service campaign, posters will appear on buses in major cities.
"It's ironic, but people who can talk forever on a cell phone suddenly come up mute when they're about to get into a collision," said CPSC spokesman Donald Lufrette. "They just get hit, and the caller on the other end doesn't know what happened."

Therefore, the safety council suggests users scream "Aahhh!" or "Oh God!" or, if there are no children present, "****!" just before impact. A proper scream, Lufrette insisted, can save your life, as the person on the other end of the call can then phone authorities. "

I don't know about a total ban, but I think a hands free kit should be used.

YES!!! DEFINITELY!!! Whenever I'm riding around with my dad I NEVER let him do it. He still does it, but he's not going to when I'm with him. Whenever I'm in the same vehicle with him, he's driving, and the phone's with us, I'm holding it so I can answer it when it rings.

I can drive and talk at the same time. I hear these people called "truckers" have been doing it for near 40 years with these things called "CBs." I dunno, I don't like the idea of a BAN, with my schedule I need to get calls done while traveling.

Plus we all have big trucks why wouldn't we be voting for "no ban" hell...if someone hits us...we're not going to be hurting :D Maybe a "cell phone" endorsement on your license...take a simple test to determine if you can do two thigns at once....bet 'ya 60% of the population will fail that one :haha:

I've answered calls on my cell phone while running Code 3 through a driving rain storm. Nope, can't enforce it :D

There's no difference between talking on the phone or talking to your passenger. Either way your being distracted.
