this is a witch hunt pure and simple. We should ALL be afraid when cops can examine our medical records just to see if a guy is doing something wrong. I was listening to the radio today... they are trying to bust him on "doctor shopping" and its completely and totally clear that he hasn't been doing that sort of thing. He had 1 regular Dr.... that guy prescribed him some pills... said Dr. was not in the office one day and his replacement Dr. 2 prescribed rush some more painkillers knowing full well what Dr. 1 had already given him. Dr. 3 was rush's hearing-surgery doctor guy and he always gives post surgery patients the happy pills and did the same thing for rush as he does everyone else. where is the "doctor shopping" here? I guess he should have ran out of the office screaming when his regular doc wasn't in the office or maybe just skipped surgery and gone deaf when he had his hearing problem. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif gimme a break.

was the guy addicted to pills? no [darn], and he went to therapy and is on the road to recovery. Hes not being investigated/prosecuted for taking pills anymore. Is this whole "doctor shopping" thing a political witch hunt and complete BS? yup.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree on the witch hunt, but I belive Rush was going to more then one doc. to get more and more pills. That's addiction, ask me how I know. I give Rush props for getting off them, but he's still a pompus-ass.

well the DA has already said that these three docs were all they knew about... the hearing Dr. is readily explained unless he somehow "faked" his deafness. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif and the other doctor was just a 1-day-other-guy-is-sick fill in type situation. Not saying rush didnt try to get pills from that guy... but really, they havent shown that he KNEW his doctor was going to be gone that day and this other guy filling in, so how can you charge him with doctor shopping? doctor shopping is going all over town trying different docs until you get what you want... not going to the same doc you always go to or having a serious medical condition where said pills are ALWAYS prescribed post-surgery.

    That's addiction

we can all agree that rush was addicted to pills.

good point, how DO you know? Im not an addiction specialist so I wouldnt know. I have taken a lot of pain killers before but Ive never been addicted to them in spite of the fact that I can pretty much get as many as I want with very little effort. Before my surgery last year i took pain meds every day for 2 weeks (trying to finish out the term of school before I had the surgery)... and then after the surgery, every day for another week. Never got addicted. who knows, maybe I'm just not wired to get addicted to junk. I used to drink like a fish when I was in the marines... once the stones started i completely cut it off with no difficulty. These days I have about 1 drink every 6 months or so. At any rate, I dont pretend to know anything about addiction... but I do know legal/political BS when I see it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

i dont really think of rush as being especially pompus. dictionary.com definition...

Characterized by excessive self-esteem or exaggerated dignity; pretentious

anyone who listens to El-Rushbo knows that his commentary is covered with all kinds of tongue-in-cheek grandiousity (is that even a word?). If you read what rush says in sound-bite form it sounds like hes the most pompous person ever.. but actually listening to his show with regularity it becomes clear that its all just in jest and meant to a) entertain the listener and b) annoy the left-wingers.

[/ QUOTE ] I can't speak for everyone, but as a recovering drug addict, and former dealer, I can say most people will do whatever too keep thier suply up. With most addictions, alittle will do ya at first, but after awhile, you need more and more. My experence is with meth, and coke, but I belive it's the same for the pills. I've known a few people who couldn't get enough Xanax, witch just happens to be a class 3 narcodic.
