Everything I've read about POR15 says it has to be applied to a clean, oil free, rusty surface to work correctly........

I'd be curious to hear what others have experienced though, because I plan on doing the POR15 thing as well next spring. There are good AND bad spots on the underside of my truck and it would be nice to know that I could cover everything instead of just a patch here and a patch there.......

POR is great stuff... works well but you definetly would get the best results but sanding, blasting or whatever to get the surface ready... then spray it with metal ready and you should be set to go... I also recoment ditching the rust to the best of your ability with navel Jelly or whatever. After that clean it and get POR'ing. I love the stuff. Also you should drill a couple holes in the backside (or innerrocker) panel on your rockers and spray in so anti-rust stuff. I know zero rust makes some aeosal spray type stuff and is a nice product as well. Then either fill the holes or get some rubber plugs.

Agree with the Captain. I used it underside and it is great. DONT LET THE STUFF DRY ON ANYTHING YOU DONT WANT IT ON, like your hands. Don't ask, lets just say sandpaper takes it off of hands, along with skin. LOL.

Even though some frown on this method I took a lot of the semi dried stuff after I was done off with a rag and gasoline.

Hey guys - I'm a first gen. guy ('72 K5) - I've used the POR15 products including the epoxy putty - I love the stuff and since I've found rubber gloves - no more black finger syndrome.
