We have passed this K5 about 100 times and I finally stopped to check it out tonight. It is an 87 with 126k on it. It is gray with gray cloth interior. It has air and casette, manual windows and locks and does not have sliders on the top. It has been painted but the floor looks better then my 89. It is at a dealer and nobody was there for me to get into it or open the hood but overall it is pretty clean. Any ideas what it is worth? I figure $3000 max since it is not a loaded truck with alot of miles. If they take trades we might just go for it and trade her car in. Just as a comparison I paid $3500 for my 89 which has every option and only had 15k more miles then the 87 does.

If it's been sitting there for a while (you passed it for awhile it seems) you might be able to get the cost down to a decent asking....

I just transfered my '87 into my name on Friday. The blue book RETAIL on it with 180k miles is $4,250. This is the cost a dealer CAN/MAY charge if it's in excellent condition. As the county clerk explained to me, this is NOT what the truck is worth. This was for the sales tax. Mine is only worth $1,600 as a trade-in (according to Kelly Blue Book!!) These figures are for Jefferson County (Louisville) Kentucky, and may vary by region, but not much. Hope this helps.

I agree with steph. If it has been there a while use it to your advantage. It is probably priced way higher then yours. I'm assuming your's was a private sale though. I paid 2500 for my 87 fully loaded... the motor is decent but needs more power... needs a little cosmetic stuff once I started taking down the paint last summer (but this happens on alot of vehicles... especially MN vehicles and Blazers in general) But overall play you cards right... maybe come in with your truck so the sales person can see you know your stuff... and something I have used... don't be afraid to walk away if the offer isn't up to your liking. Come back in a couple days or even a week and just see if maybe they have changed their minds.

This was only about a $14,000 truck when it was new. I just took a quick look at it and it is a decent looking truck but that might chance when I climb under it and go over it with a fine tooth comb. The max I will go on it is $3500 and that is if it all is good.

I paid $2600 for my 87, from the outside she looked perfect, but there was a lot of hidden rust that I found. If you want Wayne I can send you a list of areas to look at for rust. I have had my truck apart and you would be suprised where the stuff pops up.

BTW- The truck will be on the road tomorrow so we will have to get together soon. Later.

Well I don't think we are going to get it since I called and the guy was a real a$$hole. I asked him about trades and he said he could not sell that kind of car and he would not give me the price or any other info for the K5 over the phone and seemed to have a real attitude. I might just go down and get the price just so I can have a good laugh since I think it will be alot more then it is worth and that and his attitude is probably why he had it as long as he has. Pretty bad way to treat a possible customer so I guess I might just have to tell him what I think.[IMG]
