Ok, I finally got the thing to go up and down as I need it to BUT I still have to figure out how to get the thing to go up and down straight. I took it all apart and I see that the gears are out of step. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif So the one arm is always higher than the other. I want to just grind off one of the posts holding the gear on but I'm afraid that giant spring is going to attack me when I release the pressure! How can I get it off w/o killing myself????? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Will I be able to get the spring back on?? It looks pretty beefy and I'm not too huge of a guy. Well, I'll get my friend to bring up a pair of vice grips and we'll try it. Thanks for the input!
