OK, here we go....The passenger side (ps)window in my 1990 k5 quit working. Driver side(ds) works. When it quit working, if you slammed the ps door, the window would work. Then after a couple of days.... even slamming the door would not work. When you push the ps switch up, you can feel the motor vibrate a little and the voltage gauge drops a little. Pushing the ds switch up or down does nothing to the motor or gauge. I thought the motor went bad, so I bought one on e-bay. Nope. I took 12v on hooked it direct to the old motor wires and it worked fine. I replaced both ds and ps window switches and neither one fixed the problem. I have traced the wires from both doors up under the dash, with no obvious signs of shorting out. Anyone else have a similar problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before they stopped working were they just slow or did they just suddenly stop working? If they are just slow then more than likely the tracks need cleaning. I just cleaned mine this weekend and they work like new (almost). What I did was remove the window and motor assembly. Do this by lowering the window all the way, remove the two bolts that holds the track in place next to the latch so the window has room to move. Then remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts that hold the motor assembly in place. You should be able to seperate the window from the motor assembly now. Clean the track on the bottom of the window and regrease it with something like bearing grease. Also clean out the track inside the door the same way. Clean the motor assembly off and use your favorite degreaser to spray inside the 3 white plastic rollers so they move freely (there are 3 small holes that you can spray into), regrease these too. It shouldn't take more than a couple hours to do each door, most of the time is for cleaning.

Check wires in the door jam, My lock ones broke off completely and thats why my lpower locks didn't work on one side, but now they are getting weak again so they'll only work with my driver's door closed, so slamming the door may make the contact but not slammimg may not. Just something else too look at.

My passenger side window switch sometimes doesn't work when operated on the passanger side, but when i roll it down a bit with the driver side switch, the switch will become active again. I have replaced the passenger side switch, so that wasn't it. Any clues??
    Thanks

This might sound stupid but check the driver's side switch also. This past weekend I took both swithces off of both doors, replaced only the passenger side and then tried to roll up the passenger side window. It wouldn't go! No voltage to it no nothing ... WTF! So for some reason I put the driver's side switch on and bingo, the passenger side switch worked also.

Ok, I changed the motor and still it will only go up???? The wires look OK (no shorts). I changed both switches and still can only get the passenger side to go up. I can reverse the wires to the motor and get it to go up and down.

I'm puzzled [IMG] If you hook 12v directly to the switch (with a fuse in between), does the switch operate it then?
