I am getting ready to start getting the stuff togeather to do crossover steering and was wondering about the cost. I know the ORD kit will run about $500 plus the steering box but not sure on the cost of using the Rockstomper rod and other pieces needed to go with it. The ORD kit is complete including the rod ends but was wondering which way is cheaper. As for the box I plan to just switch the shaft and keep the box I have on the truck and was wondering what seals or anything might need changed?

I just finished my crossover steering conversion on my truck. I went ahead and made my own steering arm and used 1" 0.155" wall DOM with 3/4" rod eyes. The Rock Stomper would be nice also, but you can make something similar with DOM. I also went ahead and used an AGR Rock Ram since my box, (old leaky stock) and tire size, (42-44") dictated the need for some power. I have converted an old 4x4 box to 2wd to fix my old daily driver. The only thing to watch out for is if it is a variable or standard ratio box. Other than that, you may want to put in some new seals while you are at it.

Good answer but I am looking to do a price comparason just to see which is cheaper. I like the ORD kit but I have bought alot from them and would like to spread the money around to the ones that support this site.[IMG]

Wayne, I went through ORD, but it went it perfect and no binding, and all fit well. Steve makes some quality products. I would not suggest you buy the ends from Steve, just get the part numbers from him and get them at you local Carquest (MOOG brand). I think prices are cheaper on East coast. Anyway, look for 185 for new drag link, and 75 for new steering knucle. Then expect to pay about 40-75 for ends. I have the part numbers for ends if you need them. The good thing about Steve isn't out to just make money, he will tell you to get the ends locally if cheaper. My 2cents worth.

If you ain't hurt, you ain't playin' hard enough.

I know I told you this before, but here it is again:

    Draglink - Rockstomper - $100
Steering Arm -Parts Mike - $135
Pitman Arm - Parts Mike - $55 or $60 (forgot)
Tie Rod Ends - Parts Store - $40 to $50 (forgot)

Then your 2WD box and that's it! Good luck [IMG]

Thanks guys. I would like to get the ORD kit but like I said I want to support everybody that helps this board. I have more stuff to get from ORD and just might use the Rockstomper stuff to do the crossover.

I bought the complete crossover kit (drag link, tie rod, all 4 tie rod ends, steering arm, and pitman arm) from Rockymountain.com).

Let me know if you need any other answers, and I'll see what I can do for you.
