Can anyone tell me if GM makes a crate 383 Stroker? I know they have crate 502's and 350's. Since the out look for insurance and a counter lawsuit are looking really good right now, I was thinking about dropping a big crate motor in my next Blazer. I think the 502 would be too much and I could gladly settle with a 330hp 350, but I would really like a 383. Does anyone know the prices on......

    350, 350 w/330hp, 383, and/or 502.

    Thanks a bunch.

The 383 crate motor goes for about $2700. you can get all the info you need at www.paceparts.com, or call your local chevy dealer! I went with the ZZ4 my self. But if I had the money, the ram jet 502 would be blowing apart my drive shafts!!!

a 502 is NOT too much, i just dropped one in my '70 Jimmy, it fits like a glove...used the same bellhousing, tranny, but did swap the Dana 20 for a 205. One thing to keep in mind with the crate motors: you will spend a LOT more on other parts such as: carb, distributor, exhaust, coil, and everything in between. Also, the 502's don't have a mechanical fuel pump boss, and I would make sure that the small blocks do if that is a concern of yours.

Mechanical fuel pump boss, what's that?? Also, is it possible to make it fuel injected or is it just carb'd?? Thanks for all the responses.

the mechanical fuel pump boss is just the hole in the side of the block that the lever on a mechanical fuel pump slides into. you can make it fuel injected if you want or carb'd, just depending on how much you want to spend. I wanted the Holley Pro-Jection, but the cost is prohibitive. look on the side of your old block where the mechanical fuel pump is bolted, if you were to remove the fuel pump, you would be looking at the boss.
