As if I don't have enough problems as it is:haha:

I have a Canon iP3000 color printer. It is our third printer in the last 5 years:mad:
Anyways.... all the ink works flawlessly, except for the magenta.
I tried the nozzle check and none of the magenta comes out. I tried the cleaning, and deep cleaning option in the maintenance section and it didn't help. I took out the ink and there is lots left in the cartridge.

Anyone know what the problem is? The ink isn't dried, a little bit spilled out on my arm.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

3rd printer in 5 years and you are complaining. I replace mine at least yearly. Not because they are bad, it is just cost effective to buy a newer printer with better technology after the printer has been used for a year.
Is the printer used often? Cannons and HPs are bad about going out if you don't use them a couple times a week. And never use any ink but the manufacturers.

The head is probably screwed up or something. I had an epson that I couldnt figure out so I smashed the hell out of it. It did like yours only printed magenta and no cyan or yellow. Not matter how many times I cleaned the nozzles or even putting in new cartridges, it didnt help. Get a new printer, they dont last long these days plus they are cheap now...

    color inkjet printers suck.

    3 printers in 5 years = probably 450 bucks.

could have had a nice color lazer for 400 or so then, even less now. Stop messin with inkjet.

Sounds like your ink dried in the print head.

Well my mom uses it daily, prints newsletters for her business thing.

How much does the ink cost for laser jets? I "heard" it costs a lot more then the normal color printers. We are only paying about 10 bucks a cartridge right now.

What are the "best" laser jet printers? Whats better about them?

Not sure if its in my moms budget to get a laserjet printer...
I'll tell her you guys think it's life is over.

james, is there a way I can get the dried ink out to fix it?

the consumables are definatly more expensive, however you have to do more math there.

4500 - 10000 pages on one cartredge, vs 100-200 with ink

lazer printers dont have printheads to clog up. so you wont be replacing it every few months.

and lazer quality is lightyears ahead of ink.

The lazer that wishbone posted, I got for a few clients of mine last month. its definatly worth it. Great unit.

I can't see anything on that page because I need an American postal code, and I'm in Canada so I don't have any.

I went onto the Canadian site and all I found were HP and lexmark printers...

No Stevo, no point in mucking about with a crapped out inkjet. Even if you were able to unclog the head it would give you problems on the next cartridge.

I think I'd take the advice you've been given and get either another cheap inkjet or a laser.

I forgot to mention I got a great deal on that unit. As you can see reatail is $400 but they had a $50 off instant rebate along with a $100 mail in rebate plus 1 year in home service. So I got it for about $250.

Dang I will talk to my mom. I think she may want to go with a cheap one for now though...

If I could only get the Jimmy running, I would run over the damn printer.

The carb, gas tank, fuel, something is acting up. I have a thread in the garage on it:
    http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164388

On top of that it sat too long so my calipers stuck or something. So my brakes need replacing in the front.

    And... :(

    BACK ON TOPIC :doah:

Those laserjets are a bit pricey. And the cartridges are more pricey, but last waay longer.
    I don't know yet.
