I guess 87 was a bad year for blazers. When I look for parts they always say below 86 and 88 and higher. I want to put on cold air induction but noone makes it for 87. Can I just go to the junkyard and rip out the induction system for an 88 and bolt it to the 87??

theres nothing really different motor wise. Just run an open air element or K&N filter in your stock housing.

are you talking about the gm snorkel intake? or an aftermarket cold air intake?

he thinks things are different on the motor and thats why you can't get a "cold air kit" for it. The reason you can't is, they just don't say it fits that year.

anything can be made to fit. But cold air kits are like why? I've seen more than a few ricers go down tahnks to those under the bumper ones. My 2500 had one and it made noise, thats all I think it did. K&N filter was probably the only hp increase.

Cold air induction is cool and all, and sometimes helps. There's enough air flow under the truck that cold air isnt real necessary. In fact, the "cold air" intakes often causes the uptake of water or mud.

There is no "real" difference between the years, except that 87 was the first year of fuel injection. This included a change in size for the air filter, but that was about it.

LAter years had serpentine belt setups, other than that, there isnt much else that should/could have any affects on what you want to do.

If you want real cold air, and still preserve(enhance) offroadability, get a snorkel. Then you get cold and RAM air.

most of those cold air intakes you see off the shelf dont help much for actually pulling in cold air.. better off running a snorkel like already stated...

run snorkel tubing through rad support pass side like on the 70s trucks, hole already in rad support on them and maybe some 81-up too, depends on engine ordered new

81 ups are that way too. My k5 didn't have the stuff when I got it but it did have the hole.
