just picked up a 83 long bed toyota frame to start my buggy build. 1st step is to rid the frame off all the old mounts and lay out my wheel base.

    plans are:
350(have one on the stand ready to go in, thanks Kenny)
np465(have one got it from Jeff Grundy)
clocked np208(need one as I sold it to Marv and UPS lost it)
1/2 tons (found a set, thanks Lee)
37" iroks( need to order after it is rolling)
gonna run some 15 x 8's my brother gave me just need to get a set of rings to weld up on them

all this is going with a Formula yoda buggy body from Hendrix.
do to being in the PNW I will be running as many plexy and aluminum panels as i can to keep the weather away.

so i have a stock toyota rear axle for sale if anyone is needing one$ 75 OBO
and a bed $50 or $100 for the pair need gone before the 4th.

But what will you tow it out to play with? Are you gonna get the Burb finished in time to pull it with? BTW I got the rear axle and lift in today, plus dropped the transfer case down and a few odds and ends. Plan to do the front lift and axle swap tomorow then tackle the other oddball stuff this week. Should be ready to run by next weekend!

It has plates and a valid VIN so it's street legal right?? LOL I'm gonna shoot for street legal (just needs horn, lights and a working ebrake.... oh yeah and some ungodly flares, LMAO

actually thinking of a tow hitch on the car but i'm not sure yet.

making a buggy street legal is sorta a waste of time IMO... buggys are cool because they are small and simple. By the time you add in all the lights, windshield wipers, signals, horns, something to cover the tires, 'appropriate' bumper height etc etc etc you might as well just keep a rig stock. Tow that biatch and never look back. Not like its gonna take a bling trailer to tow it, ain't gonna weigh much. A fullsize 1 ton rig on 44s on the other hand... then you need an expensive trailer. ;) :thumb:

    bump...
I got the frame cut down as it was a long bed and I'm only building a 2 seater.
Welded in a new rear crossmember and some tabs for the shackles to hang on. Bolted up the 52" stockers I got from Rich (W7NB) with my left over jeep revolvers. I inboarded the springs with my burbs stock fron hangers just on the inside of the frame rail so the perches are now 29.5" on center (14" narrower then stock)
I also got my spool installed and my Black Widow rear disc brake kit all on.

Next up is getting the front torn down and get the knuckles shipped off to Tazz for the maching for x-over.
and if my blue torch fab coil kit ever shows up I'll be 3 linking the front like I did on my cherokee with my other 3" lift cherokee coils.

hey my burb thread does too. which I actually took new ones of it. this new shop is twice the size of the one you saw. I ended up hacking off the front of the frame though as I couldnt get the steering box to set right so Im gonna go full hydro on it. So I can put the box I have back on the burb,LOL

well the current pics are in the camera... in cali. LMAO there will be more once I get all the major welding / grinding done on the buggy so I'm not throwing sparks on the burb.
I think I'm up to 14" of lift and hopefully 43's,LOL

the block side is from DIY4X and I used a spring bushing with some tube and made sleeves for the bushings then notched another piece that will be hole saw'd through the frame rail(both sides) and welded up on both ends and then gusseted on the inside. but the frame side isn't done yet as I just moved the whole chassis forward another 2" to gain a better departure angle,LOL so the front axle and motor both need to slide 2" forward to clear the distributor.

basicly in looking at the last pic I posted you can see the mounts with the tubes. in theory if the motor is lowered 2" the piece sitting on top of the frame will be ran straight through it.

yeah it's going together actually as planned,LOL

should be roughly 109" wheel base.
just need to find a local source for orbital valves for the hydro steering. I just couldn't get happy with how the GM box was sitting on there. and since it'll never be on the street I hacked the front of the frame off and will go full hydro.
the front driveline will be the other interesting area.. 48" long rear is 32" LMAO

hey Ben did you see the 3 door tahoe on the 67-72 board in the suburban area. frizzlefry chopped up his blue burb in to a 69 tahoe. I shouldn't have looked at it. I can still get that 69 gmc and I have a 2wd truck coming...
