I just got my assessment for this year and my property value jumped $64,000, this sucks. this is my first house, and the first time i've had to deal with this, but man, to jump that much in one year seems pretty damn ridiculous.

nope, our value went from 102,000 to 166,000. We didn't pay too much more then that for the house.

no, we just bought the house in October of last year and haven't done a thing to it. The letter that accompanied my assessment went on about keeping up with fair market value. I'm going to try to appeal it, but i don't know if that will work.

After we bought our house (12/05)we got our first tax bill saying our house was worth about 40 thou. more than we pd. for it too:eek1: . I went to the township office and showed them the bill of sale(mortage contract) and a copy of the appraisal:deal: and they lowered my taxable value down to what I paid for it:thumb:

Our town just revalued everyone's home from approx 86% of true market value to 102% of market value. Here it is legal as long as the percentage applies to everyone. It sucks - property tax rates didn't go up, but the amount we pay just went up 18.6% in one year.

I think we have some law that limits it at about 3 percent a year. 18.5% OUCH!

Then they raised the water rate from $4 per 1000 to $13 per 1000. Went from $20 a month to $45 to $55 a month. I love it here :|
