That thread about sending GM letters to start reproducing the K5
Blazer/GMC Jimmy inspired me to Photochop what a new K5 might
look like. Post up some pics of what you think it should look like.
Obviously my Photoshop skills are lacking, but maybe some of you
guys can come up with some cool pictures.

Well, you should work for Chevy because it looks exactly like what they are producing. No disrespect to you, but the designers at Chevy need to wake up and smell the coffee. Their aerospace crap doesn't sell. Take for example the new Camaro coming out next year. Had they took the '68 model and did what Ford did to the Mustang, keeping classic body lines instead of the "bubble" crap, and retro'd the inside, with modern flair, they would have cleaned house with the baby boomers and prolly saved GM from the financial crises they are in. But no! They have to give space age crap that looks like dog poop.

Now I'd love for them to bring back the 73-87 series K30 in standard and extra cabs, return to original lines and solid axle fronts. Modernize the inside and you'd have a bad ass rig. But they won't. Yuppies that want 4wd so they don't get stuck in their front lawns after washing the truck rule the roost. Time for the auto makers to make a serious capable truck for everyone.

    JMHO.

Great art work. Sure you don't work for Chevy?

I tend to agree with you guys saying it's ugly, but knowing
GM I figured they would base a new K5 on something like
this concept Silverado I used for the pic that made the car
show circuit a few years ago. If it was my choice it would
be retro styled like the 73-75 Blazers with a full convertible
like the one I own. No one else wants to post up some pics?
Don't worry we are not grading Photochop skills, just concepts and ideas.

I am not expecting the K5 to look like ours, but they could make it similar...

Come on guys, let's face it. GM is NOT going to make a retro looking K5 with a solid front axle. It's just not going to happen. If they ever did, it would still be full of all the electronic 4wd stuff that we know and hate, and cost an arm and a leg.

There's not a big enough market for it. Most of us are junkyard scroungers and parts hunters. How many people would love to see a truck like this but be totally unwilling to pay the price for it.

You want a modern rig with old school parts? Buy a Jeep. :doah:

From the General that means at least 50k, more likely closer to 60.

    You guys still in?

Just buy a double cab Taco or Rubi Unlimited already. Sorry.

Sorry, but if I pay 50k for ANYTHING, it's gonna be a down payment on a house or my kid's college education. Unless it's a business expense or you have money coming out of your ears, I see no point in paying that much for a vehicle.

I built my original trail truck for less than $10k, my 2006 Grand Prix cost $16k, and I'll have the biggest, baddest tow rig in town for less than $20k, soooo....if you want a truck that gets bad gas mileage, doesn't have a bed, and won't tow worth a damn for $50k, by all means, write your letters.
