I can ignore this because I don't have to worry about it.

My apartment doesn't have a washer or dryer. But I am listening to BB King.

my neighbor had a dryer fire...

i completely disassembled mine a few years ago and cleaned it out... amazing how much lint was trapped down in by the fan, etc.. not to mention it works sooooo much better...

Something else you need to check every now and then is the lint trap screen...

I received an email awhile back telling me about this little deal. There are chemicals and whatnot in fabric softeners, that believe it or not,,,clog up your lint traps.

They look absolutely clear to the eyes, but if you run them under water, they will hold that water,,,,a screen,,,,

They need to be run under warm water and scrubbed clean every so often.

This also depends on how much you use your dryer. I tried this with our old one, and it freaked me out when the screen lint trap, held the water i had running in it.

This will cause overheating and other problems inyour dryer.

Well I am pretty sure that my dryer is around 7 or 8 years old and it may be time to do these things.

I sell the long brushes to go in the tubing in the wall , new lint filters , small brushes to go in the lint trap area .

Scary , let me tell you , six months of dryer use can coat the floor of your dryer with lint . They are NOT air tight , those felt seals and the foam rubber around the blower housing DO LET AIR , AND LINT escape :eek1:

No biggie though , if your a guy , take it apart once in awhile for the wifey . Its what men do , tinker with chit :D

yep I tear the back off mine every year or two and also do the hot water and brush thing to the lint trap. I also replace the hose between the dryer and wall when I clean it.

another good hint is to shut the water supply off to your washer when you are going on a trip. If the hose develops a leak it will run until you get back or you flood the street and somebody notices and calls someone who cares.

I have had two friends houses burn down due to a dryer fire.

Gotta pull the dryers at the apartment apart once a month to pull the 6 inch wad of lint that collects in the fan shaft, and around the heater... Scary how fast it builds up!

This is why you NEVER use flex pipe for the exhaust... You should only use solid steel piping with real elbows.. The lint will get caught in the nooks/ crannys of the flex...
