I'm pretty sure the 454 was only available in the 2WD models...probably due to the 10 bolt front and possible warranty issues.

You coudn't buy a factory Sub with a 454 and a transfer case until 1992. They never offered that combo to mere mortals along with a solid front axle. /forums/images/icons/mad.gif

I've got a 1990 350 powered Sub in the driveway and a 454 in the garage. Sounds pretty similar to the project that you're thinking about. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Nope. 4wd's were never available from the factory with BBC's. Only the 2wd's.

The only truck to come from the factory with a BBC is the K30 truck. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Through 1991, with solid axles, this is true. And since this is The One, The True, The Only truck (73-91), that's fine. Do note that newer, IFS trucks are available in 4WD/big block ... but they aren't as cool as the 73-91.

Yes, true, but approximately 99% of us on this site are/am talking about the SFA trucks, pre-'92. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I talked to a guy that is making a 454 swap into a solid axle burban, and he said the combo was never offered because of front drive shaft interference. Guess GM didn't want to make a special version t-case.

How could that be possible when they made the K30's available from the factory with 454's?
