...Since we don't have enough going on right now...

We're basically thinking we would like to get a popup trailer. It would be realllllly cool to pick one up before the florida trip, but it can wait, we have the whole summer ahead.

So what should I look out for? All my camping has been in tents, so using a towable structure is totally new to me. I have a buddy that's realllly into camping and rv-ing (he has a 30+ ft 5th wheel right now), but he's an hour out and can't really check them out with me.

We basically want a camper that can sleep 2 adults and 4-5 kids, have a decent cooking area, and a toilet. Needs to be light enough to be towed by a girly 3.4L minivan motor, too. Nothing new or fancy, either, our budget is under $2000. I keep seeing cool deals on Ebay, but I'm afraid to pursue anything cause I'm so mindless about them...

I know there are a couple of people over at TowRig.com that are heavily into trailers that might be able to help as well.

No, but for camping trips we'd probably let them bring friends.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Truly shameless! But thanks, I keep meaning to go over there and keep forgetting...

KG, thanks for the name to look for :thumb:.

I am in the process of looking for a camper too. I am looking for a 26-30ft. though. I would say to check the classifieds. We have a few little classified magazines around here. Sell for $1 or so. There are lots for sale in there. Don't know if you have anything like that or not. The good thing about campers is that their resale value is horrible. Worse than cars, so you should be able to find what you want for under $2k. I have found a number of 26-30 footers for around 5-6K. In fact I'm looking at a 26ft. for $6100 right now, and it's a 2004 model.

Check e-bay or traderonline.com , ive seen some good deals on pop ups there. Or if you want to dream like my wife goto http://www.trailmanor.com/index.htm or if your a glutton for punishment Ive got a set of plans for a tear-drop the wife wants to build http://www.tinytears.cc/ but I cant see my 6'6 butt fitting in one but it will be a good project for the kids and me next summer.
