My girlfriend is gonna help me put in the 383 tonight when I get outa work. I will bring updated pics in tomorrow if things go well. I hope to start it this weekend But I will try not to get too excited yet. I want to make sure everything is ok before I run it. The only problem I can see is gonna be that crappy BW T-10 tranny. I am gonna try to adjust it somehow. I have never adjusted one before but I think I can figure it out. Just FYI

Man, you have a cool girlfirend. My wife just lets me do it myself, then helps me lick my wounds when I get all busted up. Haha.

Haha, I'm taking my wife to a huge car show this weekend. I think the only reason she doesn't help me is because she doesn't want to encourage me to spend any more money.

Sounds like a really sweet motor you've got there. I'm building a 359 Chevy motor to go into a 79 Malibu. Thought about the 383 route, maybe one day. Let me know how it turns out!

I usually call that 359 a 360. Thats a 350 bored .060 right? I have one in my white truck and it runs great. Does get pretty warm though. I was gonna go with a 355 ----350 bored .030 for the camaro but everyone kept talking so much about 383 stroker so I will definetely keep everyone informed on what I think. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Well, I think it is a 359, but now that I think about it, it doesn't make much sense. We have a 350 bored .04 over. Someone told me that is was a 359, but if a 350 bored .03 over is a 355, wouldn't a 350 bored .04 over be like a 357 or somethink like that? Hmmm.

You actually have a 357 if it is bored .040
    350 bored .030 = 355
    350 bored .040 = 357
    350 bored .060 = 360

How about some specs on your 383. I built one a few years ago useing a Crower 4340 forged steel (Ultra light) crank, Eagle specialties 4340 steel (Ultra light) rods. Comp Cams 292 magnum camshaft (292 dur, 501 lift, 110 lobe sep.) I ran it advanced. Dart 2 heads, Dart 2 intake, Holley 850 double pumper. Hooker supercomp headers, ...ect. MSD ignition (crank trigger) Comp Cams high tec roller rockers, TRW forged flat top pistons. It was a street motor, so I kept the compression down to 10 to 1. One hell of a screaming motor !!!!! I'm going to build another one for the vette.

I don't understand ALL the numbers or parts but here goes.
    383 stroker
    -10.75 compression
-heads- cast 1970 194i 160e machined for large springs and cam 3 springs per valve
-screw in rocker studs and guide plates for pushrods
    -keith black pistons
    -clevite mains and rod bearings
    -chrome molly rings
    -hydrolic cam
--12250-3 comp cam extreme energy cam 240 --- 246 duration
    510 lift 110 lobe separation
    .50 duration
    - eagle rods
    -cast crank
    -edelbrock rpm air gap intake[EDL-7501]
    7,000 rev limit
I was told I will have around 400 hp????

With 10.75 compression, you'll have to run avi gas I would think. 400hp sounds about right from that list. Gotta love the sound of a compression motor, and the bigger the cam, the better if you ask me !!!!!!!!

In the future you may want to upgrade from -heads- cast 1970 194i 160e machined for large springs and cam 3 springs per valve to http://www.worldcastings.com/newstuff2.shtml I'm seriously looking at a set for the vette.

That is my plan for the next jump in hp. I want as close to 500hp the next time I upgrade this motor. I am sure you will see my post eventually about how to do it. My engine guy said he built the lower half strong for when I upgrade. I realize heads are the first to upgrade. I have been told aluminum heads would be the best. But lets not get into that yet /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif
