Did my heater core today, and broke the seal of the putty on the firewall, and can't really form it back...where can I get this stuff? I tried Lowes, but they only have stuff not recommended for plastic...any ideas?

I got mine from NAPA. Comes on a roll and looks like Tar.
Can't find the receipt so I can't help you with the part #.

Also, RV dealer &/or a good hardware store might have something called Cool Seal (i think that's the name). Comes in black or white. Works good for such things.

I've also heard it referred to as body putty. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Are you reffering to (NAPA) butyl tape, normally used to seal windshields? I keep a roll of it around to fix/seal most anything that's clean. Another thing to look at is rain-gutter caulking. It never really hardens or sets.

That roll of butyl stuff or whatever its called was like $25. I ended up buying some Window-Weld, the stuff that glues the window in the sash. It cost $15, but I'll probably need it again.

Can someone clue me in to what the putty does? I read 'seal the firewall.' From what? Heat?
    I don't get it.

It's used to seal gaps/cracks in the fire wall to keep hot air and fumes from passing to the cabin area. It's also sometimes used as a sort of "form your own" grommet around tubes and stuff to keep them from vibrating/chafing/cracking.
