How do I tune a k5 quadrajet on a 78 350?
The procedure is long but not complex and involves a propane cylinder to properly adjust the curb idle/maximum enrichment idle mixture. Just turning the screw without the propane bottle will yeild little noticeable improvement and may cause an imbalance between the two bores. Chiltons Truck & Van Repair Manual (#7655) has a section on Quads and details this adjustment. The propane bottle I used was one that I used on my Coleman stove (used the same regulator and piece of hose from the stove). I tried to adjust the screw without the propane but could not get the mixture right. Hope this helps.
I have never tuned with propane and dont own that book...anyone have a write up?
