I'm finally insured, so I can go see a specialist about my ankle that's been giving me problems for the last year... So I called up this place my mom reccommended and got an appointment with Jean D. Basta, MD - Board Eligible

Is there a difference between MD - Board Eligible and regular MD? There are three other docs in the office, all just plain MD's... Did I get an appointment with a master Orthopedic doc, or is she the worst one ever?

I've been to countless doctors over the course of more than 10 years. They all took my money, and that of my insurance company, whether they helped me or not. Most made a 'Diagnosis' after talking to me for 15 minutes. I'm now no better off than I was 10 years ago, and medical bills bankrupted me at least once, and we still carry a heavy medical debt load. I have permanent side affects from many of the 'treatments' that did nothing for the original ailment. I stopped counting the cost of 'treatments' when we hit six figures.

At least the Amish Faith Healer I went to in the Foothills of Kentucky didn't charge me anything for his bad advice. Him, I have respect for.

Doctors are all scum. If they really cared about people they would see about 1/4 of the patients and actually take the time to realistically understand the problem before making a whimsical diagnosis.

Even though insurance is paying for it, I'd suggest herbal remedies and Grandma's Rum.

But I'm paranoid and nuts, so what do I know??? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I had to have the doctor give me a full check-up last year because I had mono, he did everything from looking in my ears... to feeling my nuts... I would much rather have a hot young lady doctor instead of a old man with hard blistered fingers touching "my area" /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

The problem with that is there's a good chance of gettin' blue balls after the exam...which is worse than mono... /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

    [/ QUOTE ]

Board eligible - Has met the requirements for admission to a medical specialty board examination, but has not actually taken and passed. This does not mean the doctor has taken and failed it, but it COULD mean that.

Board certified - has taken the medical specialty board examination and passed.

Regarding doctors being scum - my opinion is that at least 50 percent are doctors strictly for the money. Helping you is a possibility, but certianly not a priority. Pacifying you is just as good an outcome for them as actually helping you.
