On a 4x4, do you put the chains on the front axle or rear?

    Thanks,

I've done it both ways. If it's really bad then I've put them on all 4 wheels.

on an empty pickup I would put them up front, where the weight is.
I usually only put them on 1 at a time until the vehicle can crawl out of where it is stuck

The front helps steering but gives more chance for breakage. You might just have to experiment and see what works for you.
