I have seen rs,s with 4.3s but not sure about the z28 .Your best bet would be to check out www.thirdgen.org for all your f-body needs.good luck

I know a chick who wanted a z28, and her dad got her a v6 with z28 badges, I don't think you can buy them like that though, I'd be more embarassed to drive a fake v6 z28 then a plain v6 camero /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

The first gen Z-28's came with DZ 302's. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
    The 3rd gens are either a 5.0 or a 5.7 v8.

I think the IROC was the only one that only came with a stricly V-8 platform. 305 if it had a 5 speed and 350 with an automatic. I have an 89 R/S with a V-8 and I also have an 88 that is badge with Z-28 that had a V-6 in it.. Here is a pic of my 89. In 15 years the car could have been "rebadged", who knows. I know I am building a bad a55 383 for it right now...

    Z28s were/are V-8s only. (I'm pretty dawg-awn sure)
Equipped with small blocks, but not all V-8 camaros are Z28s.

"Z28" was actualy a Option Number on the build sheet for the High-Perf equipped camaros in the late 60s. The production number stuck and has been the label for the high-perf camaros ever since.

Kinda like "Z71" is the off-road packege for the C/K bodys, it's actualy a Option Number too. Samething for the "ZR2" S-10s, or in my case "ZQ8" which is the Sprot-Suspension package (lowered 2" from the factory)

As a matter of fact, I'm kinda thinkin' all the RPO numbers that begin with "Z" are suspension option codes. But I'm sure about that.

Nope - I was wrong, just checked. Not all "Z" codes are related to suspension options alone.

Z-28s never had a V6. Just like Trans Ams never had V6s (except for the TTA, badass turbo V6).

I agree with ya 100% on the bad ass tta .My buddy has # 386 of 1555 made with the buick gn 3.8 turbo and that thing just all out hauls ass man. I've got an 89 ta GTA with the 5.7 tpi vette motor and I have trouble following him down the highway .the tta's were(are) totally underated at 240 hp I think that gm was a little weary about posting the true hp numbers for them due to the fact that they could run with the flagship zr-1 vettes all day long .they (were)are Awesome machines A great piece of american muscle car history.. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

From what I have read no "IROC" Z28 came with a 5 speed they were all Automatics. This is off of camaroz28.com. Funny thing is I see them a lot on Ebay /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif But reading through the threads I guess it's a pretty simple. That or they but a Z28 and slap some IROC stickers on them. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Actually, only the 69's came with the DZ302. 67 and 68 came with another coded engine. The DZ was the baddest though!
