Do any of you ever have a problem where people take you the wrong way? It happens to me allll the time and its a big part of why im quiet all the time i think. I hate it but it happens quite often for me. Just seeing if it happens to anyone else

My problem seems to be basic underdstanding of what I'm saying in the first place.

When people take stuff the wrong way are you trying to be sarcastic? If so then throw a chuckle in when your saying stuff.

I understand. I'm often misunderstood and bungle my words, so I prefer to keep quiet. I usually find it less trouble than to jabber away and have to re-clarify what I said.
It also comes from being concerned with how people will read you. I'm finding myself caring less and less if people generally misunderstand me, and I think maybe it comes with age.

I've got an uncanny knack for unintentionally using the wrong tone of voice.

Anyone that has mastered the art of talking to women is a god among men. I find the best thing to do in that situation is to poke fun at the little things but dont go overboard. A good ice breaker is to find the guy making an ass of himself and make a comment on him. Don't go off to hard on the guy but check for her reaction. If she laughs and makes fun of him too, then start the small talk.

As far as people taking stuff wrong just watch the body langauge (sp?) you use.

Just be yourself. Worrying about other people's perceptions of you will just cause you to be even more nervous, and screw up more.:D

Having confidence without coming off as cocky is a fine line, but if you can do it you will be just fine. If someone gets pissed off about something you said you were right. They knew it was bad or something stupid, and you pointed it out.

I get misunderstood all the time. Most of the time I'm in such a hurry to get things out that I say the wrong word or words. The weird thing is when I do drink my speech actually improves because I relax. But that usually stops at beer number 4. Be yourself man, do not try to be a cocky asshat or be like anyone else. Once you feel comfortable you will be fine. Once you have really established your friends then as long as you are around them it doesn't matter what any other douches think. What really matters is what you and your friends think. Your friends should like you for you no matter how shy, crazy, or freakish looking your are.

I'm one sarcastic mamma jamma, and my boss says on my yearly reviews that maybe I should change my dry and sarcastic sense of humor... But nothing is funny to me otherwise, so folks are stuck with it, and if they can't handle some friendly ribbing then they can go ahead and avoid me :D
