my uncle has a 77' or somewhere around there chevy stepvan, it has a 14 bolt ff axle, ive heard that these axles, or rearends, are longer than regular 3/4 ton. If so would this match the same length as my front. ITS FREE, i dont care if the spring perches line up beacuse im going to move them anyway. SO WILL A STEPSIDE VAN 14BOLT BE JUST LIKE A 3/4 TON WITH SPACERS? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

yes it would be like a 3/4 ton with spacers. And the placement of the spring perches would have to be moved for a stock K5 but the new spring perches fit aside the old ones so the olds don't have to be removed.

    Depends on the step van.
    Is it a g30 ?
How big of a step van is it ?

Best thing to do is measure it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the van axles are the same width as the front axles on our trucks---soooo, the track width is the same front and rear, instead of the narrow rear axle

not really disk brakes on a 14 is a completely bolt on modification and it only cost me $250 for everything.

Did you need a proportioning valve? Or did you just get the bracket, disks and gm calipers?

Well I have a Van 14bff in my blazer from a 1980 G30 and other then it being 3" wider it is the same , (other then the longer axle shafts too that is) the perches do need to be moved and if they are the cast one's. GET A BIG GRINDER..Slap on some disk's and all is good..
    Here is the cast perches..
And this is the end result with the van width axle front to back match..

dually van? No matter what it affects things. Its either plenty wider than your front axle or I don't know what the other option really is.

I removed both of the old cast perches in less than 10 minutes apiece. Mike can back me up on that- He watched me do it. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

Get some measurements and pics! My guess is that if it is a dually van either it is a regular dual 14FF or it is a reguler width 14ff with dually hubs. And the again it could be a van width with dually hubs.. Get some pics of the van and the housing plus measurements! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
