I've got a 85 k5 with a tired 305 and a almost shot 700r4, and the local trans shop wants $1300-1500 to rebuild to corvette specs which sounds good but I found a '79 3/4t with fresh GM goodwrench 350/4-speed(w/granny)/assuming 205 full time transfercase/14ff rear/and not sure on the front for $1800.
Besides the obvious (drivelines, shifters, clutch pedal ...) are there any major problems that I would encounter.

    Thanks Chas.

cross member, hole in floor for shifter, no real problems making the swap especially if it is a whole unit(motor, trans) all together. That is kinda high price for stuff that old though.
I would try to get a better price if ya can. Talk em down somehow.$1400 or so.

When I Changed From A Turbo 350 With A 208 On My 82 K5 To A SM465 With A 205 Taken From My 77 K5 I Had To Shorten The 205s Front Drive Shaft To Make To Make It Fit.
The Front Shaft Was The Only Part That Would Not Bolt In

You stated that the donor truck has a 205 full time transfer case. The 205 is considered a part time 4wd transfer case and the 203 was a full time 4wd transfer case. As far as the change goes it sounds as if you will have most everything you need to it with. The older trucks have a removable transmission hump that you could use and install in you blazer after a little modification to the blazer floor. I am in the process of removing my modified 700R4 and 205, to install a NVG4500 and 205 combo. It just takes a little research and time to get it all to work. Hope this helps.

I may be slow, but I sure am fat!
