Torquing header bolts??????? You must be a VW mechanic, they torque everything. I always just tighten the crap out of them, run the truck a few miles and re-tighten the bolts again. Of all the headers I ever bought I have never even seen a torque spec provided in the instructions.

I crank on them. I hit them again every few weeks and they've always loosened up some too.

i was leaking bad and got the dead soft aluminum "i really do promise they won't leak" things. I have replaced them a few too many times so at this point, i'll try anything.

    thanks for the spec.

I guess I've just been lucky. I have cheap Heddman headers, the stock gaskets that came with them and regular old bolts on them. I tighten them to a perfect torque spec of "1 grunt". I retighted the bolts once about a week after I put them on, haven't touched them in nearly 4 years and have yet to have a leak. I have a set of the locking header bolts that I bought 3 years ago thinking that when I need to retorque the bolts I'd put them on, but the bolts never loosened back up. Collectors don't leak either... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My k10 has flowtechs They suck my collectors leaked bad I cut the collector flange of and welded my pipes right to the header collector NOT the best fix but it's temporary until I can afford a set of Hooker procomps with the ceramic coating and 3-inch pipes with Flowmasters /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif
