Do exactly like Biggray says .......... tighten till it's tight, then go clockwise until a keyhole lines up.

I did mine about a MILLION times trying to fix a freakin' axle seal leak, and one thing I found out was that it is a good idea to smack the drum inward with the palms of your hands a few times while tightening it. If you hear/feel the drum move in/out at all, then keep tightening until it's all the way in.

I know it seems obvious, but a few times when I went to take them back off, it was loose ....... so I guess I didn't tighten it all the way the first time even though it seemed pretty tight.

I used a punch/pry bar and a hammer to tighten it all the way, so I guess I would say tight tight.

But then again, my threads could be in worse shape than yours are, so I would just tighten it up until there is no more play in the drum when you smack it, then go clockwise with it until a key hole lines up.
