    Real quick, 79 K5 350. At 0 degrees btdc, on the number 1 cylinder, the exhaust valve is the open valve right?

    At 0 degrees on the compression stroke, both valves are closed.

    and at 0 deg. on the exhaust stroke, they overlap slightly, but exhaust is just about closed
