Ok, time for new radiator. Anybody do business with these guys? The price sounds great but I'm kinda worries about the (you get what you pay for) rule. :doah:

I found that Autozone prices were actually pretty close to radiator.com. So I bought it locally, so if there's ever a problem I won't have to mess with shipping a radiator back. I just bought a 3-row with trans cooler for my '90 Sub for $149.

I got my 4 row radiator from auto zone and I have had no problems. I have heard a bunch of horror stories about one particular online radiator specialist, but I can't remember if it's these guys or not. I'm sure somebody will chime in with who it is.

Thats the same reason I buy mine local :D I got a 4 core from Advanced Auto with a lifetime warranty for just under $200..

This online place in question has been talked about in a few other threads on here if you do a little searching.. The last thread I remember the guy was having trouble getting his money back because he felt that they sent him a used radiator for a new radiator price.. It was dented and had been repainted IIRC. He wasn't the only one that had trouble with them because a few others said the same.. The company goes by a few other names too but type that name in the search and you should find the info on them..

I knew I had heard something bad about them before. Oh yeah, if you get the one from auto zone, it's much easier to replace it the same day if needed. My dumba$$ ruined my first radiator from AZ when the fan got into it. They replaced it no questions asked.

Stay away from these people. They tried to totally rip me off. I eventually just went to a local Carquest parts store, and got a good quality new Modine radiator for only $20 more than Radiator.com wanted to charge me for banged up, rusted out, piece of junk (which they insisted was a top quality radiator). It took them 3 weeks, after I had returned the radiator, to credit my credit card. They kept lying to me over and over, and saying that the credit had been issued, but my credit card company said that was impossible because no record of a credit posting existed.

It's bad enough when a new radiator that you just installed quits and you have to take it back out but having no truck while your dealing with shipping issues is a pain in the ass.. Then you have to not only wait on a replacement but more than likely have to pay shipping cost as well..

I have bought 4 new Modine radiators from Advanced in the last few years and only one had a problem.. 2 weeks after I bought it and put it one in one of my trucks it ruptured going down the highway on Christmas eve no less.. I got a buddy to tow me back to his house and took it out and he carried me to Advanced to pick up another one.. They replaced it no questions asked and from the time it ruptured until I had a new one and back running again to finish my shopping was only a couple of hours.. Try that with anything you buy online :D

There wouldn't be anyone, who has used Autozone for their radiator, who has the part number for a 4-core for a '74 K5, wouldn't there?

I've been looking through the forum search and I've found conflicting stuff stating that a 4-core fits without any need for a new upper support bracket and other posts that state that there is a different bracket needed.

Additionally, I haven't pulled my radiator yet, but I'm assuming that GM used the rubber "U" pads under the tanks. Are they still available from the dealer to anyone's knowledge?

Finally in the absence of the actual part number, does anyone know the application for another C/K that would have the 4-core with AT and AC?

    Thanks.

i used them. they have local warehouse so i could just pick it up and the price was $200 cheaper than napa, this was for my 98 k3500.
i installed the rad and 3 or 4 months later it sprung a sizeable leak.

their customer no service is in cali so me being on the east coast and at 9am trying to get some one on the phone to fix my problem was kinda a PITA. but they took care of me and i was able to pick up a replacement that day. so i was out a jug of antifreeze and my time to swap rads.

would i buy from them again? maybe but only cause i can pick it up myself.

I put a 4 core in a 84 and the original brackets will not fit over the new one because it's too thick..The 4 core is the same size other than that.. You can get new brackets and shroud at the dealer so they should have the rubber bottom mounts too.. To find the right one for your truck it would be best to go to the store and get them to look it up..

I dunno if it will fit, my buddy told me to goto auto zone, and order a radiator for a 77 truck, for some reason it shows up in their computer cheaper than all the other radiators. He said it was only $99. He put it in his 84 only thing is that he had to get the older style drop bracket for the top of the radiator. I hope I helped some

My radiator came from them over 3 years ago. I was stationed in Las Vegas, Nv at the time and I lucked out because they had a wharehouse there, so I saved on shipping. I haven't had the slightest problem with it since I put it in. :D

bridgeguy, look up the radiator for a '74 2WD Suburban with the 454 and A/C. That should be a 4-core that will fit your rig. At least that's how it works for the later models...

What part number did you use? I would like to get a 4 core for my 84 Blazer. Also did it swap right in or did it take new brackets?
