I had a so-called friend do that to me. He agreed to sell me his 10,000lb winch for $250, so I gave him $100 to seal the deal til Monday (this was on a Friday at work). Come monday he tells me someone else bought it and then took almost 2 weeks to give me my $100 back. Homo!

I had something the same happen. Almost had a 1990 Blazer Silverdao with 90k original kms on it when I first bought my rig; had the deal all made. Came in to take it for inspection & the owner sold it to a buddy that night! PISS OFF!!! It was mint too!
Rene; the reason I replied to your post is that I was told ( by Consumer Affairs) that if I had put any money down as a deposit; they were leaglly obligated to sell it to me. (which I hadn't [IMG]) The same should apply to you!! & the winch??!!

Happened to me once... I was going to buy an 88 Subaru GL 4wd station wagon in excellent shape for a teenager Subaru for $1000. Went there after begging dad to loan me $500, emptied my bank account, and he told me he'd probably sell it to me, but someone was coming later that day to check it out... So I called him two days later and he said he sold it... and last time I drove by, the car was still sitting at his house.. hmmmmmmm

Oh well, if I would've bought that Subaru, I probably wouldn't be driving a K5 right now

79 K5 Blazer Cheyenne.... That's all I have to say about that.

That was my reason for giving him the cash right away. I could have sued him in small claims but it wasn't really worth it considering he was a co-worker.
