What are the bolts for the rear leaf springs? I am replacing my rear springs this week and I KNOW I'll end up busting the bolts....so...does anybody know off the top of thier head? I did a search, but apparently I am the only idiot to ask this question for awhile. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

    I wish!

My rear springs are shot. They sag 2". I have some newer ones I want to swap out is all. I am talking about the spring hanger bolts. I think they are 1/2" shoulder bolts, but then again, maybe they are 5/8"?? I want to use grade 8 s/s hardware to replace them, and once I start into it, I won't be able to run to the parts store till the wife gets home from work.

I have not broke one of those bolts off yet in the 15-20 trucks I have dismantled... Occationally I get one that will not want to loosen up and has to be heated though. If you soak them with PB blaster penatrant the night before they should come off and be re-usable.

I'll do the PB blaster deal tonight and buy new bolts at the same time. I'm going to need to buy new nuts for the u-bolts anyway so I'll get the spring hanger bolts at the same time.

    Thanks guys!
