Rear Axle cleaning URGENT

    I pulled my cover off a few minutes ago and out came water,and gear oil [​IMG] will it hurt anything if I hose everything down with brake cleaner. if it matters it has a posi unit. TIA

    Brake clean works the best for cleaning the inside of a diff...it's all I use.[​IMG]

    Brake clean works wonders. That is what I use to clean mine.

    Just make sure you give the BrakeKleen a chance to evaporate before you seal the diff up and add new oil. If you don't, your new gear oil will break down in a hurry and you could damage the diff.

    And depending on which possi unit it is, make sure you know what "Friction Modifier is ".
    More is not better, just as is put it in it can't hert !
