It sems like I have a bit of a problem if I wanted to install my 12 bolt to my 84 K-5. The parking brake cables I bought from GM are for a 1979 truck (year of the 12 bolt).. but they won't hook to my newer p-brake layout (84-up) Now, my friend thought up an idea to switch the entire brakes, from drum to backing plates, between my current 10 bolt rear and the 12 bolt.. would this work? Are there any other solutions?

Yes the backing plates for the 10 bolt will work. Just remove from the 10b and put on the new 12b. That's what I did on my 83. It was a bolt on. It all lined up.
