Rear hatch latches work fine but hatch is not tight. Strikers adjusted all the way but hatch is still loose and rattles on bumps. Did striker originally have some sort of plastic bushing on it? Or would just a new weatherstrip around door tighten it up? Any ideas? Also still looking for door caps[see other post"New to Blazers"]. Thanks!

Sounds like worn out weatherstripping. When I replaced mine, the rattle disappeared.

Dave, on my '72 I found that when I shut the hatch I could give each corner an extra push and it would click and snug tight after that. Of course, that's not a problem now that I took the top off! (that would by my other recommendation!)

    You can't beat going Topless!

Thanks guys. I thought it was probably compressed weatherstripping, but I wondered about the strikers as somebody previous had wrapped tape around them.

I have to do the same as Ressurection. Works fine after that.

Ditto Resurrection and Highwaydevil. I let the lift gate down slowly and make sure I hear two clicks out of each latch when I close it. Very few rattles and squeaks (I have a pretty well worn-out latch as well...).

Thanks again. The double click trick worked great.

After reading this thread, I checked mine (both) and found the problem to be - too much weather stripping - added by previous owners. All that foam would not allow the catches to fully engage to the second click.
Thanks all - gotta love this group!
