I have a 76 K5 and I cant get the rear window to lock. The key turns freely in both directions but no matter what I do it never locks.

    Thanks for your input,

probably the locking cam on the backside of the lock is stripped. This part is aluminium and the part it fits into is steel. Key will turn but if it's stripped, the lock will never engage.

I'm scared to try and see if mine locks. I would just die if I couldn't open the back window and drive around like that. 3-60 airconditioning!

You mean you still have the locking mechanism in yours!?? That would be cool.

My 76' has a lock that won't turn at all. Finally ended up taking the whole assembly out after the little pot-metal cam deal broke. Gonna have to modify it a bit.
