    Matt,
From what I hear you're wanting to TRY to find an '87 or newer core for rebuild. '87 and up have desirable changes.

they started using the 4L60E in '93, so you should be able to use anything from '92 or earlier.

I have an '89 blazer 700r4 4x4 tranny. It was a working trans when removed(about 3 months ago). what we thought was trans problem was actually broken flywheel. This trans has been completely torn down and cleaned. I have all the parts new to fix it(not torque converter)Can send you pics if you want. Let me know if your interested. I was thinking maybe $350.00 plus shipping.

If you are still looking for one I have one that is suppose to have the right spline count on the front input to be the later model, more desirable one. It was runnig several years ago when pulled. $50 in Jefferson City Mo.

It was pulled from a 1984 sub diesel 4x4 but it was a replacement transmission. Local trans shop had me count the splines on the front input/pump and said it was the 85 or 86 and later model. The trans worked fine but leaked some out of the front around the converter. If you can use it let me know. Thanks.

Can you count the splines on the input shaft for me? Also, is there a K on the housing(on the top of the bellhousing).
    Thanks.

I will try to get a count of the splines either Sat or Sun and get back with you. I will also check on the "K".

The spline count on the input shaft is 30. The large hub that the converter slides over, which is on the outside of the input shaft, has a coarse spline of 27. I could find no "K" on the bell housing of the tranny. There was a tag that indicated it had been rebuilt for General Motors by ??.
Hope this helps some. Let me know. Thanks.

    Jim

I dunno.....i think i wanna try and rebuild it for the experience and the fact of having an extra transmission around cant hurt.I was thinkin maybe about $100 to make it worth my while.
