YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF ...

It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, "One nation under God."

You've never protested about seeing the Ten Commandments posted in public
    places.

You still say "Christmas" instead of "The Holidays."

You bow your head when someone prays.

You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National
Anthem. You treat Viet Nam vets with great respect and always have.

You've never burned an American flag.

You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who
    is listening.

You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same.

You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

    God Bless the USA.

More like "might be a Republican". Democrats don't do that stuff and they typically sneer at those of us who do.

My best friend, which by the way I have known for 25 years since Jr. High, needed a loan from me for $1000.00. I didn't have it at the time so I took a loan out for that amount and gave him the money. He gave me the money back, I never thought that he would'nt. I've never told him what I did. Never will.

I don''t agree with the flag burning thing, BUT let me explain why.

    1) I'm no expert, but it's my understanding that burning is the proper way to retire a flag. You do not simply toss it in the trash can. Those who know for sure, please correct me if I'm wrong, at which point I'll have to re-evaluate No.2

    2) Since someone with hatred for the U.S. has soiled one of OUR flags by handling it, it is indeed in need of being retired.
So what they think is a protest that will rile me up is actually the honorable thing to do. I find it ironic that they think they're insulting me and they're actually doing what I WANT them to do.

You are correct; the proper method for disposing of a soiled/worn flag is to burn it. It should be done in a dignified manner. Exactly what constitutes a "dignified manner" is a little nebulous, but it shouldn't be at a bonfire with a bunch of beer-fueled yahoos running around - that definitely isn't dignified.
Your local VFW or American Legion post may accept flags in need of proper disposal. Can't hurt to ask them...
