Do I have to get a new carrier for my front 60 if I want to go to a 4.56 ratio, or is there somewhere I could get thick gears?

I called Drivetrain Direct, Randy's R&P, and 4WP, and none knew of a thick 4.56 for the Dana 60 smaller carrier. They all said I would need a new carrier. Is there still any hope?

I don't list one available from any of the following; Precision Gear, Richmond, Dana-Spicer, or Genuine Gear. You might be sh!t outta luck with this one. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My understanding is no, you have to get the new carrier.

Well maybe I read the chart wrong:
    http://www.randysringandpinion.com/dana-spicer.shtml

But it seems to say they have it. I called randy's one day and talked to someone who said they dont have thick 4.56s for a 14bolt, but the next day I talked to a guy who said they did. couldnt hurt to try again.

I did some research on this a few months ago and couldn't find any company or shop that knew of any "thick" gear sets for the Dana 60. I have talked to a few people who say that a spacer ring work okay on the 60 because the centering ring on the carrier is deep enough to center both a spacer and gear.

I could never find any for the front. The rear you can though (14 bolt). I got my carrier from Boyce for $100.

There are 4.56 open carriers for sale on e-bay all the time for pretty cheap.

Just run a spacer till you can afford to upgrade to some type of locking diff.

what gears do you have now?
when are you doing the regear?
are you certain on the 4.56 or would 4.88s work as well?
