Most of the links aren't working. It looks like those Gremlins are really popular because all those sites have exceeded their allowable traffic and are temporarily shut down.

its not that they're popular, its that they're hosted on Geocities, where they get a maximum daily allowance of perhaps 4 megs transfer before they pull the plug on them.

with that said, a car that small with a V8 in it, is just one giant suicide machine IMHO... .although I must find one, and see if I can;t graft in a 454 instead of the puny 305. :-P although I suppose aa 454 would weigh ttoo much... perhaps a 383 then?

Just splitting hairs, but the Gremlin came with a 304 not a 305. Two entirely diferent motors. I remember as a kid going to the AMC dealership with my parents and checking out the Gremlins...

In high school a couple of guys had Gremlins with V-8s and all.

They were actually quite a quick car...

One of my best friends in high school used to regularly show up in a wicked looking black AMX. His dad worked for an AMC dealer and had the AMX as a demo for quite a while.

    AMC motor's that I can recall were the 258 6 cyl, 304 V-8, 343 V-8 and the mighty 401...

I never cared for AMC's styling, but they sure were different!

There was also a 360 in the fullsize pickups and Cheeroke and a 327 from the old Kiser days.
