What I want to do is take the knuckles off of my current d-44 which is going bye bye, and put them on my new d-44. I would like to reuse the ball joints since they aren't that old, can you take the knuckle off without damaging the ball joints? I have a ball joint seperator to do the job as well.

You can reuse them. Just loosen the nuts on both of them and give the nuckle a few wacks w/ a BFH then take the nuts off and it will fall.
