I am trying to find a rental company, that i can rent a pick-up truck and flatbed type trailer in the San Diego area, and do a one way trip back to Phoenix with it....

Anybody on here ever done this type of one way rental travel with something that is NOT a moving / box van??

Supposed to head out there the first weekend of June, and just looking at options to see if it would be better to fly out and rent a truck, than to drive the ol' wore out Burb and a ton of gas money.

Good luck finding a rental trailer that will carry a Burb. :( I just towed my S-Jimmy 900 miles on a Penske trailer. Max weight the trailer was rated to carry was just under 4,100 lbs.

Try Budget and Uhaul. They both have car trailers not just car dolleys. Sounds like a car trailer and a couple straps is all you'd need. Just tell them you'll be transporting a car like a 1985 El Camino.

Checked them both, they don't rent a fullsize type of pick-up truck one way to Phoenix.

probably just going to have to get the Burb in alittle better shape, and eeeeeas 'er on out there.

Well if you do drive it along I-15 and run into trouble I will help. Just post up before you try it. I am sure that between SD and Phoenix you should be covered the whole way just from the CK5 So Cal'ers

What about renting a 10 or 14 foot moving truck with the car trailer ??? We only paid three hundred and something for the 14 foot truck for 500 miles. Or check places like Enterprise car rentals. Those places rent pick ups too. Rent the truck from one place and the trailer from Uhaul. Heck you might not need the trailer if you rent the moving truck. A pick up bed should fit in the back of one of those.
