Hi all... I have an old 60' Hi Lift Jack, but I lost the handle...

Actually, I didn't. It was my dad's jack, but he hasn't used it in years and the handle walked off. I was wondering if I could get a replacement handle for it.

Also, will regular paint hold up on it? I think I'm gonna sand blast it and repaint it. It's got lots of overspray on it now, but I want to keep it in my truck at all times so I want it pretty.

i think a 1" OD (or whatever size) piece of steel pipe will work... cheap at the local hardware store, no knurled handle section, but you can get whatever length you want for more leverage :)

How did you know about my beloved Jerry?

Actually, they don't sell good thick pipe that I've seen. I've got a metal shop right down the street from my work...

4 feet ought to be about enough?

Should be plenty for the required leverage. I know the handles on the 48" jacks are shorter than the jack itself. Oh, and I'm actually an Oakridge native, just stationed up here in WA with no Jerry's or Bi-Mart to be found. I hate it!

Oh, and no notch, just a drilled hole with a cotter pin stuck through it I believe. I've removed mine before to use it as a cheater pipe.
