replacing a lock cylinder HELP

    Can someone guide me to a link or write up on replacing a lock cylinder on the column on a 86
    Or I have a 89 column are the plugs compatible

    It's pretty easy really.
    1) Pop the cover off the steering wheel center
    2) Remove the steering wheel nut and steering wheel
    3) Use a lockplate puller (free rental at Autozone) to depress the lockplate until you can remove the snap ring around the center of the steering shaft.
    4) Lift out the lockplate
    5) See the small screw head in the hub just above the lock cylinder. Remove the screw. The cylinder will pull right out.
    6) Insert your new lock cylinder and replace the screw.
    7) Reinstall all your parts and youre done!

    use a balancer/pulley puller to remove steering wheel do not hammer on steering shaft
