A rescent post has me wondering about the Revolver shackles. I thought I remember hearing that the ones made for full trucks were too weak and didnt quick work the way they did on the smaller Jeeps and such. So, I gave up on the idea. Anyone have anymore input on this?
    Front?
    Rear?
    Both?
I really like the idea, but am very leary of them.
    This a trail only vehicle.

Didnt Shawn Spickler take them off his truck, or am I confusing with someone/something else?

Ok, I remember there is a write up on how this was done. Could someone post the link. I guess I can search for it also.

Oh well, I will find it. Guess I didnt need to post this then.

    Ken,

I have a system that works on the same basic principle, but there are a few differences that are worth noting. Check out some photos:

    community.webshots.com/user/marv_springer

    The differences are:
    1) Incorporation of a track bar - You've got to add additional lateral support when you let the shackle start movin' around.
    2) "Bottoming Out" position of the shackle - sure Revolvers have a "stop" to limit extension, but at this point the "extended" shackle is still free to rotate. This leaves no support for the rear half of the spring and (I believe) leads to that "wobbly" tendency. My system has a built in "stop", at which point the spring is supported in exactly the same way as a conventional "compression" setup.

My system has been on my daily driver since sometime in '98. Frizzlefry and ScoobyDann on this board are also running it. Works great!

Thanks for the emailed info. Also thank you very much for telling me up front it is NOT for towing. I do tow a fair amount, and am getting a boat next spring.........hence they are not for me.

Appreciate the very complete info tho!
