    Hey guys,

My 89 is running very rich. I can sit and watch the black fumes come out of the exhaust. Smell it pretty good too. The check engine light comes on every once in a while too. It hasnt been getting very good mileage lately either. The fuel injected engine only has about 50k on it. Could it be a sensor or anything?? what do yall think?

Have you checked the trouble codes? Sounds like it is running in "limp home" mode. If I remember correctly, this "mode" is supposed to be rich to prevent any engine damage.
