I need some help with my pattern before I break out the sledge hammer..... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
The pattern looks good on the drive side. Centered from face to flank, and close to center from heel to toe....
However, the coast side looks like the pinion is a little too close. The pattern on the flank is pretty flat, and arches at the face, but pretty much covers the tooth. And like the drive side, its pretty close to center from heel to toe. My backlash is at the wide side of the limit at .010" with NO shims under the pinion. I started w/ 2 shims and went to no shims, to one shim, to one thin shim and finally back to no shims... so far that's where I get my best pattern.
Oh yeah.... its a 14b, using a new 5.13 Yukon gear set

It's hard to help without pics, but in general if the drive side is good and the coast side is close then you're as good as you can get. Play with the backlash a bit and see if you can get it better, but from the description it sounds like it's pretty good.

I've only done this one time, but I think the coast side looks about perfect. Either way I think that pattern is pretty damn close. Somebody else will let ya know for sure. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif ttt

Dude that looks good to me. If your backlash is good go with it, I don't think you can get it any better.

I like that pattern, I would maybe bring the backlash in to around .008". Otherwise i would say run it.

I agree, run it. Even though the drive side pattern isn't real big, it's nice and even and well centered. Run it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
