What are your ideas to protect the back of a K5 on something like Dump Bump. Where you may come back down and how to keep from tearing up the back or flipping? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I second Russell on this. I have a stock K5 and I drag across most stuff with my hitch with no problems.

I third the hitch, but am also in the process of making a bumper w/ protection going forward under the body to protect sheetmetal. I'm bobbing the fenders some so height isn't an issue. Check out Steve Frisbie's & Steve Fox's bumpers. I'm stealing my ideas from them!!! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Custom rear bumper with tire carrier! My spare hanging off the back saved my ass from flipping over backwards and down a nasty hill!

Sounds like you need to wheel a Suburban.

Steve do you get any exhaust fumes coming in from the back with no gate?

We were watching a video of Moab and on the Dump Bump a lot of the people that tried it came back down hard and tended to almost flip over backwards. Would having your spare mounted like a prerunner truck help on something like that?

If it were hanging off the back it would help some. They way Steve's is set-up, it doesn't hang out of the bed at all so it would offer no rollover protection.

No exhaust fumes at all, the reason I took the tire off the back was it always got me hung up when going over a rock ledge, that and the cantaleaver force would rock the blazer.
