It could be the A/C system, if you have one. A weird, bad smelling fungus that grows in it because of the freon.

my first thought was my dawg, seems to havea bad case of gas tonight but then I realized you were in Texas so I don't think that's the case. My second thought was your cat, it might have a bad case of gas. Depending on your emissions controld hack the dang thing out, weld in a peice of tubing and go fer it.

I had that exact problem once, and found it to be the battery. I started to notice a rottem egg smell that I could not locate, and 3 or 4 days later my battery blew-up. What a mess, not easy to clean battery acid from the engine well. Check your battery ASAP. Goodluck!

could it be gear lube seeping out of the rear of your transmissiong tail shaft? and spraying everyware.

When the engine gets "out of tune" the cat creates the rotten smell....I would trade it off for say a .....70's Blazer!

I am a little confused, why would you put gear oil in a transmission?

I'd also bet on the cat. converter being your problem. We used to cut them off and either replace them with a patch pipe, or hollow them out and put them back on.

An overcharging battery will smell like a rotten egg, like mentioned in a previous post, it will eventually blow up... Check your alternator voltage output.

Unless you have a back window, I don't think your going to be smelling your exhaust. Can you normally smell exhaust when the rotten egg smell is not present?

My CAT smells like that when the motor is under load like going up a hill. I don't think it's anything to worry about
