    Routing My Amp\'s Power

Sorry for the really newbie question, but I'm a novice at the audio wiring. I'll either be putting my amp under the passenger seat or bolting it directly to the sub box and was just wondering the best way to get the power cable to the battery??? Where is the hole in the firewall?? Thanks in advance for the help.

you should find some holes on the drivers side firewall, and welcome to CK5 /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

If the amp is going on the passenger side, I'd try for a hole on the pass side also......

It's silly to have to criss-cross all over the place to get back to the positive terminal on the battery (which is also on the pass side)....wastes a lot of wire too.

If you can't find a pre-existing hole, you can use a uni-bit to create one wherever you want. USE A GROMMET to seal the hole and prevent that wire from shorting out. Also, the amp is probably fused, but be sure to put an in-line fuse within the first 18" or so of that wire as it comes off the battery. If for some reason that wire DID short against the firewall, the amps fuse won't save you.....and the truck WILL soon be on fire! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

there is a hole in the firewall on the pass side. At least on my truck. Its an 87. It would be easyest to pust the wire through from the engine side though. When I get home Ill look at the truck and tell you exactly where it is.
